Today’s Taste of the Berkshires – Sarah’s Cheesecake & Cafe
It’s real easy to tell when someone truly loves to bake.
While she serves the favorite staples, which includes far more than just cheesecakes, Sarah Sayers especially enjoys the creative side of individualizing cakes for special occasions. Her favorite unorthodox frosting covered piece of art was a cake crafted to look remarkably like a bunch of Doritos bags.
From airplanes, to sports equipment, and even a Nikon camera, Sarah’s Cheesecake & Cafe is known for building three-dimensional objects with flour, eggs and sugary goodness. Check out the photos of some of Sarah’s awesome creations.
Being a part of Taste of the Berkshires, which is raising dollars for the Junior League of the Berkshires, is a no-brainer for Sarah. She says contributing to the community is just a way of life for her and her family. Her donations of treats for benefits for the Catholic Youth Center (where her daughters play basketball) are undoubtedly a big hit for a great cause.
“We support as much locally as we can,” she said. “It’s also just fun to help the community out.”
At Taste of the Berkshires, look out for some of her special treats like the raspberry swirl cheesecake flavored with crushed Oreo cookies or the popular chocolate Kahlua cheesecake. Everyday, Sarah bakes up a storm including large and mini-cheesecakes, cupcakes, brownies, éclairs, cannoli and more.
But, it’s not only about the sweets, Sarah prides herself on some of the best soups and sandwiches in town. She only uses Boar’s Head meats catering to the growing lunch crowd in a relatively new location.
A year ago, Sarah’s moved from the high-traffic Coltsville area to the shopping plaza at 180 Elm Street in the desireable Southeast of Pittsfield – still with plenty of parking, but with additional foot traffic.
It’s the kind of business that fits right into the neighborhood.
