AG Candidate Palfrey joins the podcast for conversation
Quentin Palfrey on the podcast
Massachusetts Attorney General candidate Quentin Palfrey stopped in to the podcast for a conversation with John. This, as folks are lining up to succeed Maura Healey as AG. Healey is running for governor in a move that shifted the state’s political landscape, for sure. The Attorney General position in Massachusetts has become a very high-profile position. Healey has lodged legal actions against the former Trump Administration, spear-headed multi-state actions against corporations, such as the infamous Sackler family who, among other players, drove the devastating opioid crisis in the US.
Palfrey talks about going after corrupt corporate players on behalf of the people, equity, how the Attorney General in Massachusetts can work to improve conditions for working class citizens. As we know, costs continue to rise and wages haven’t kept up. Now it’s at a boiling point with historically high inflation.
While it may not be the primary role of the Attorney General, Palfrey said that family budget economic issues are, in fact, within the purview of the AG’s role. From wages to inflation, to corporate accountability, serving as the “people’s attorney,” Palfrey says the office can be utilized on behalf of working people to better their lives, and not just as the traditional chief law enforcement role.
Palfrey reasserted his support for the Fair Share Amendment that would serve as a modified graduated income tax amendment in the Massachusetts, where high earners would be taxed at a higher rate on income over $1 million.
