Porchlight and Kindred Team-Up to Offer State-Approved CNA Course, Beginning May 28
GREAT BARRINGTON – Porchlight VNA/Home Care President & CEO Holly Chaffee announced today that Porchlight’s state-approved Nursing Assistant Program will begin its spring course schedule on May 28 at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center – Great Barrington, 148 Maple Avenue.
Upon successful completion of program requirements, students are eligible to take the state’s Competency Examination to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA).

The program provides 45 hours of classroom and skills lab instructions and 45 hours of clinical practicum (90 hours total). Classroom training consists of lectures, group activities and class discussion. The skills labs provide an opportunity for students to learn, practice and demonstrate nursing assistant skills. Clinical practice is held at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation – Great Barrington. During the course of the program there are three exams administered along with a final exam. In addition, a home health aide final exam will be administered at the end of the program. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, students are eligible to take the state’s Competency Examination.
All classroom and clinical classes will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following days: Tuesday-Thursday, May 28-May 30; Monday-Friday, June 3-June 7; Monday-Friday, June 10-14; and Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18 and 19.
Tuition for the course is $500. There is a $20 application fee. Supply costs are $50 for supplies that will be refunded upon the completion of the program.
